David Johnson (born 1957) was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and grew up in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Johnson is an American news anchorman for WPXI-TV. He is currently the co-anchor of Channel 11 News at 5:00 and 6:00 with Peggy Finnegan, and co-anchor for Channel 11 News "11 at 11" with Darieth Chisolm. He also anchors The Ten O'Clock News on Fox 53, and the 7:00 news on PCNC. David Johnson and Peggy Finnegan are the longest running anchor team in Pittsburgh.[1]
David Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in broadcasting from the University of Florida in 1980. It was at UF that Johnson started his career in television at WUFT-TV. His career took him to Jacksonville, Chattanooga, Orlando, and Atlanta before going to Channel 11. Johnson began working for WPXI in January 1985 as the noon news anchor and reporter for the evening news. David has won numerous local and regional awards, including several Pittsburgh Press Club Golden Quill Awards and a Mid-Atlantic Emmy Award. David is married to WQED-TV's Nancy Polinsky, and the couple has two sons.
